DoD Topics are Out!

The Department of Defense

Broad Agency Announcement is Open!

Topics for the 24.1 BAA are now available to view and you can search the Defense SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal to find one that matches your research or technology. In our 8-week virtual Lab, we'll help you write and submit a competitive proposal to win non-dilutive R&D funding that can help advance your novel technology and provide a vital solution to the warfighter!

SBIR 24.1 & STTR 24.A BAA Important Dates

PRE-RELEASE: Wednesday, November 29

OPEN: Wednesday, January 03

CLOSE: Wednesday, February 07

Next Steps

If you identify a Specific Topic, apply for the DoD Lab here. Please note, only the SBIR 24.1 SBIR & STTR 24.A BAA is supported through this DoD Lab, so please choose a topic that falls within the specified dates above. Also, please only choose a Phase I topic. Direct to Phase II (D2P2) topics, e.g. AF241-D001, will not be accepted.

If you don't find a Specific Topic, some agencies will offer an Open Topic, which means you pitch your idea to them and if it meets a specific defense need, they'll fund your R&D project. Look out for "Phase I Open Call" in the Topic Title. DLA released one Phase I open topic DLA241-P01, and other agencies may release more topics throughout the day. If you identify an Open Topic from an agency that aligns with your small business' area of interest, apply to the DoD Lab here.

Applications Due by Close of Business Friday, December 1

*If you have not participated in any of our programs before, you must include an Executive Summary as part of your application, incomplete applications will not be accepted.

What Happens if Selected

If selected to participate in the DoD Lab, you will be invited to a virtual kickoff meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 6.

*If you do not find a fitting topic in this BAA or you are not selected to participate, the AFWERX Open Topic Solicitation may be a great alternative. The next opportunity to submit an AFWERX Open Topic proposal will open on February 7 and details to participate in that DoD Lab will be released in January.
